We left the hostel at 4.10am Monday morning for the short shuttle ride to the San Francisco airport (20 mins). The freeway was six lanes (going one way) in places and I was glad I wasn’t the driver! How Americans cope driving on the right side of the road with six lanes is beyond me.

The weather turned cold on the last day in the Bay Area. From a sticky 28 degrees Celsius on Friday, we were treated to an icy cold wind on Sunday. We came across a market at the United Nations square, where Pam managed to convince a San Francisco police officer to pose for the camera. [...]

We spent half an hour in a queue waiting to catch the cablecar to Fisherman’s Wharf. The wait would have been a lot longer if Pam hadn’t unknowingly jumped the queue! For $11 we purchased a passport for cablecars, trams, buses and train. Turned out to be very good value.

Well we got off to a great start, Cleaned the floors, put out the rubbish then checked bags for the last time before we hit the road. Jo was fine , so too were the bags.
